All abstracts submitted must be in editable Word format; typed in English, single line spacing, Arial font 12pt and must not exceed 300 words.

  • Title: The title of the abstract must appear first.
  • Author(s): The name of the individual delivering the oral or poster presentation must appear below the title.
  • Address: Hospital and/or institution or practice address must appear after the author(s) name.
  • Contact Details: E-mail address and telephone number of the author(s) must appear below the address.
  • Author(s) must state whether they wish their abstracts to be considered as an oral or poster presentation.

  • Background: A statement of the hypothesis or research question.
  • Method: An explanation of the study design and experimental method used.
  • Results: A concise summary of the major findings of the experiment, or study. Sufficient data must be provided to permit evaluation by the reviewers reading the abstracts. Statements such as “additional information to be presented at the meeting” are not acceptable.
  • Conclusion: Summary of the overall findings and the importance of the study.

All abstracts must be submitted via the Congress website.
No exceptions will be made and no e-mailed, faxed or posted abstracts will be accepted.

The poster should be a visual presentation of your submitted abstract and should meet the following criteria:

  • Title: The title should be the same as the submitted abstract. Include the title of your presentation at the top of the poster. Characters should be a minimum of 48pt font size. Your name and institution should also be displayed on the poster.
  • Size: The poster must be A0 size (A0 size is 841mm x 1189mm) in portrait orientation.
  • Lettering: The poster should be easily readable at a distance of two meters. Use UPPER and lower case for general content as the use of all-capital text is difficult to read. Avoid using a mixture of type/font styles.
  • Headings: 48 to 60pt font size is recommended for headings.
  • Content: 24 to 32pt font size single spaced is recommended. The text should be concise and easy to read. The message that your poster contains should be clear and understandable without the requirement of oral explanation. If relevant, methods should be presented simply and concisely. After the title, the two most important panels are the Introduction and the Conclusion. On the basis of these two panels, a reader will decide whether to consider the poster details and perhaps talk to the presenter. These panels need to be very simple, concise and visually attractive. Results should be presented graphically if possible. Avoid large tables of data. Results should be in line with those originally submitted in your abstract. Use pictures, symbols and colour. Figure legends are essential and should be short but informative. If using graphs, they should have a short heading. For visual effect, we recommend that graphs be no smaller than 12cm x 18cm. Photographs should be no smaller than 12cm x 18cm. Use the space to attract your audience for discussion, not to present complex details of methods and results.
